Eating real meals resolves a multitude of snacking.
Case in point: One of my clients really struggled with her daytime eating. She usually wouldn’t plan for or have a real lunch, and about 3 pm when she was predictably starved, she would repeatedly decide that since it really wasn’t lunch time anymore, and since dinner was in the not too distant future, she may as well just have some snacks. Can you guess how well that was working for her? Her solution was to make herself a turkey sandwich in the morning when she made her son’s lunch for school, and bring it with her in a thermal bag. Whenever she was going to eat next, no matter if it weren’t till 3 pm, she would eat “her lunch”. She preempted the self that wanted to just snack by taking action first thing in the morning to “head her off at the pass”.
