Playing it safe – for golfers. Here are two great examples of doing what it takes to head off a problem in advance – the action before the action, so to speak. One avid golfer is known for bringing a water-packed package of tuna and a fork in her golf bag for “the turn”. It keeps her energy up for the second 9 holes. She is actually less hungry at the end of the game, and let’s face it, she doesn’t have to fight with herself about wanting more. Another who spends a lot of time at her golf club comes in from 18 holes and, instead of immediately joining her friends in the bar where there are tons of complimentary hors d’oeuvres, she instead showers first. That gives her time to decompress and kills some of the actual eating time. She finds that by creating that brief delay, she doesn’t leap on the food as soon as she is in the building.
