Being “off my plan” is built into in my plan. I don’t eat perfectly all the time. I don’t even really intend to. It just means that I plan my treats into my budget. I do not have to deny myself the pleasure of ever gratifying myself with food. I just have to pay the bill. My body doesn’t skip accounting for what I am doing either calorically or nutritionally. So my plan has to accommodate whatever really happens in my life, whatever I choose to do (be it the best decision or not), just like with money. That cruise has to be part of my budget, not “off” my budget. Try calling American Express and convincing them that you needed that expensive little break to de-stress, and that they should just erase that from your credit card. That dining room set you bought when you were sad because your dog died shouldn’t have to be paid for. Good luck with that.
