I can also accomplish this banking in advance by exercising and not eating those calories as I go. Again, reasonability is the name of the game. This is not a call to overexercise and starve. It’s just like having a small part time job and putting the money towards some extra treat. Designating what I will use those calories for can also give me leverage over my couch potato alter ego. For example, it literally buys me my weekend meals out. So, I can ask myself, when I don’t feel like going to the gym, if it is worth skipping the gym if I also have to skip that eggplant parm or cheesecake I had planned on for Saturday?
