One of my most well worn rationalizations lines is: “I am fine as long as I don’t open it”. True, but am I planning on never opening it? Did I buy it for it to rot on the shelf? My mother once gave me several cans of sardines that her second husband had kept around for snacks. They never even got on my shelves. I am really 100% clear that I am not eating sardines ever, so I didn’t keep them for company who might just happen by. Would I have done the same if it had been chocolate, or would I have kept it for, as yet, uninvited guests?
