What can’t I live without in the Summer? Ice cream is a big one for lots of people, I know. My morning protein shakes (Strawberry Banana Paleomeal with peanut butter and a banana – tastes like a PB&J) has fixed this for me for the moment. If there is something you love, like ice cream, perhaps you can find a way to set some boundaries or parameters that make it easier for you to contain it, like: you can only have it outside your home, you have to walk to get it, only smalls or mediums, cup not cone so you can make it last, eat it with the sample spoon, only at the end of the day when you are sure you left caloric room for it, only on the weekends, etc. You can plan it in, make it work.
I had a client who invariably couldn’t live without Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Pumpkin Muffins in the Fall. That was not really a problem in and of itself. The real problem was that she never had them instead of something.
