Never say I am on a diet.   If I truly want support, this can be the kiss of death.  For some reason, that is just asking for arguments, debate, discussion, whatever.  I can’t tell you how many clients I have had who have lost weight (but still, by their own standards, have a way to go) who have been encouraged by friends and family to “stop losing weight, for gosh sake’s”.  They will say things like, ‘Oh, you are so skinny now.  You are not trying to lose more, are you”?  I don’t know if that is just a genuine reflection on how big they were to begin with (and now they do look svelt comparatively) or whether we just can’t enjoy indulging unless someone is doing it with us.

Frequently people will keep saying that to you long after you have stopped losing and often after you have begun gaining. I think that maybe once they have drawn attention to your weight loss they feel compelled to say something.
