It’s easy to act like I have no say in the food decisions. Otherwise competent, directive people (including me) can act like they have no say in food decisions. “But, they ordered pizza…” Someone is going to be making the food decision – why not you? “Then the brownies came in”…what, on their own?
I will speak for myself, but I think I am embarrassed to look like “when Harry met Sally” or to admit that I have to manage my environment to be successful, or that I even care that much. Fact is, I do. Most of the time, nobody really cares, and rarely as much as me. I remember a therapist I used to work with in a weight program saying to me, “This should be the worst thing that anybody ever has to say about you – that you have no willpower where food is concerned.” It could be worse.
