The devil made me do it…I have a reputation to uphold.  I can inadvertently become the victim of the reputation I created.  One of my good friends regularly gets in the most trouble with the leftovers of whatever she cooks for her college age daughter.

Another client has grandchildren spanning the globe.  The ones who don’t live in America eat healthfully and my client has been discouraged by her daughter-in-law from baking for them the way she bakes for their American counterparts.  They love her just as much.

Another friend notes that her own Mom (an artist) has a reputation with her grandkids as the catalyst for their familiarity with and love of art – not cookies.

Another realized that it, having just shed 120 lbs., it might have been a mistake to demonstrate her cooking talents to her future son-in-law.  She then felt obligated to make all his new favorites, and he no doubt felt obligated to ask for them.    I need to pay attention to the reputation I create.  It can come back to bite me in the butt – literally.
