It seems to be a lot easier to manage weight with structure. After all, what is every “diet” plan but structure created by someone else? Summer seems to be a time of year when all the normal structure goes away, and you will likely have to impose your own by making sure to have actual meal times, shifting exercise schedules because of the daytime heat or evening light. For lots of people, in the summer, every day is Saturday with Saturday mentality, and that often doesn’t lend itself to weight management behaviors.
I can’t tell you how many clients have left Weight Watchers complaining that the point system is not providing enough structure. I am sure that the intention is for them to create their own. All diet program studies confirm that people will not continue indefinitely to follow structure imposed by someone other than themselves. Summer is a great time to find out what structure you need in your life to keep it together.
