Strategy:  Give protein time to kick in – about 45 minutes.  (Variation on this theme:  hot food is more satisfying).

Why:  Once it does, I am really OK.  This is a great strategy before going out or at the start of a cocktail hour.  This works so well for one client that she brings shrimp cocktail for all to virtually every party to which she gets invited.  Another eats a 1/2 cup of chic peas and drinks a glass of water about 1/2 hour before any food event, and still another sucks on a Hall’s menthol cough drop while all are scarfing down the bread basket.  Works like a charm – now I just have to choose to actually do it!
