I can teach these principles all day long in my practice, but if I go home to a box of donuts on my own counter, all bets are still off. What I have developed (through painful trial and error of course) is the self-discipline not to have donuts on my counter in the first place. Then, I don’t need willpower. So donuts have become an “eaten outside of the house” food for me. Hence, it is mostly by managed circumstance, certainly not virtue, that I eat less crap.
