Behavioral Basics – I have to stop doing the actions that sabotage me instead of just hoping that they won’t. One of the dangers of self-help books for me was being under the impression that, if I could just find the core or cause of a behavior, figure out where it came from, then I would just naturally stop doing it. It has been hugely helpful to me in my life to go through this process of therapy for a myriad of reasons, and I have changed a lot of self-sabotaging thinking and behaviors. But, no matter how well adjusted I have become (thus far at least, and I am sure that is open to debate!), I still need to have my meals planned, my vegetables cooked. I still shouldn’t sit right next to the honey roasted nuts…even on my best day.
