Emotional Basics – It makes life easier when I can accept that I am not and do not need to be perfect. One of the great things about incorporating the tool of calorie knowledge is that it is forgiving. I can figure out how to accomplish my weight goal without needing to eat perfectly to do it. Setting standards I cannot possibly hope to achieve or certainly maintain has (to date) been the best excuse in the world for me for not to try – at lots of things, unfortunately. I have a nephew who doesn’t let not being good at something stand in his way. Consequently, he can take the pressure off, has a lot of fun and things are still working out just fine for him. People universally love to be around him. He never makes people feel judged, or that he has expectations of them. He is one of the most successful people I know, working hard and enjoying himself along the way, taking it as it comes, not needing to be perfect. I want to come back in my next life as him!
